| Coaching Responsibilities
The basic responsibility of each coach is the conduct and administration
of his/her team in accordance with the Dynamo Soccer Association
guidelines. Specific duties include: 1. Provide leadership appropriate for each occasion. 2. Create opportunities for players to learn and to develop soccer skills, sportsmanship, and the values of athletic competition. 3. Coaches will receive team rosters about 10 days before the first practice. Please call all players on your list as soon as possible, even if you do not plan to practice during the first week. If becomes a burden to other parents and players as well as the Dynamo Board members when kids are not called in a timely fashion; word spreads quickly when friends and neighbors have been called. 4. Provide, in writing, practice information and game schedules to players as soon as the season begins. 5. Involve parents of players in the management of the soccer team in such areas as: assistant coach and telephoning. 6. Select qualified assistant coaches and always have at lease one, preferably two, helper's at practices and games. 7. Manage the care and use of team equipment provided by Dynamo and return all equipment to the equipment chairman at the end of the season. 8. Ensure that each player plays at least one half of the game before any player plays the entire game. 9. Encourage players and parents to notify the coach when a player must be absent from a practice or a game. 10. Have practice and game strategies prepared before you arrive at the field. 11. Encourage each player to bring his/her own soccer ball to practice. 12. Encourage each player to bring water to each practice and game. 13. Report all injuries requiring medical attention, in writing, to the Association President. 14. If inclement weather occurs during a practice or game, call it a day since the health and safety of the players is more important. 15. Assure control of all players at all times. 16. Control your sideline spectators during games and do not allow anyone within one yard of the touchline. 17. Do not argue with a referee, if there is a problem, speak to the referee after the game and report the situation to the Referee in Chief or the Association President. 18. Bring to the attention of the Association President all situations that may become a problem. 19. Attend coaching clinics when possible. 20. You are encouraged to attend meetings called by the Association President. 21. The Association President has the authority to suspend players, coaches, or a team because of unsportsmanlike behavior. 22. Fruit or other foods between quarters or at half time is not recommended. Not only can eating
during strenuous activity cause stomach cramps, but it greatly enhances the bee
23. Remain at the field, practice and game, until all players have been picked up. 24. Advise the Association President of any players who quit the team before or during the season. 25. Take a copy of each players registration (Emergency Information) form to each practice and game. 26. Player Safety - Player safety is of paramount importance. Coaches are expected to use mature judgment regarding player safety during practices and games. Report any unsafe field or equipment conditions to the Association President. 27. Have an end of the season team party. At the party make sure you thank all of the adult volunteers for their time and effort. Also make sure you tell each of your players that they played well and that they improved as the season progressed. Hand out awards supplied by Dynamo to all players. Please serve as positive role models and refrain from the use of tobacco or alcohol at team parties. 28. Coaches mailboxes are located inside the door of the coaches room. Please check your mailbox before game day. 29. If possible, bring a cell phone to each practice. Since no phones are available at the Dynamo Soccer Complex this will provide a way to call emergency medical help or a parent if needed. 30. During games coaches are restricted to the sideline area, and must remain on only half of the playing field. Coaches are not to be on the parent side, nor on the end line (with the exception of the 5-year old division, where a coach may offer support their goalkeeper). 31. Coaches are reminded to have all parents/fans sit on the south or west side of the field (depending on its orientation). 32. There are no time-outs in Dynamo Soccer. The period after a scored goal is not to be used for coaches to meet with their teams. Let's keep the games moving and give the kids as much clock time as we can. 33. You have the obligation to the children to educate yourself in terms of soccer drills and strategies. This can easily be done by simply spending some time clicking around the links found on the Practice Help web page. Many good resources can also be found at local book stores and libraries. Make your practices interesting, different, and practical. Do your absolute best to help make this a great experience for our kids. 34. Click here for Organizational Documents. If you can add to
this collection please e-mail documents to: jelegi77@comcast.net 36. It is indicated on the team roster those parents who
have expressed interest in assisting the coach or in performing the duties of
team parent. Make every use of these people as resources to make your experience
more enjoyable. 39.
Is there a threat of
lightning? Dynamo Soccer has adopted the following IHSA minimum safety
procedures called the 30-30 Rule 40. Players are required to wear Dynamo provided uniforms. As the coach you should make sure players have the correct uniform before the first game. Players not dressed appropriately will not be allowed to play. 41. When
will we get our game jerseys? 42. Make-up
game policy 43. Each team is limited to two 1-hour practice sessions per week. Teams must not exceed this limit. 44.
Trounce Guideline: The objectives of the Dynamo Soccer
Program are two. First is to focus on instruction so that every child will
improve as a soccer player, and second, to have fun. If one team is greatly
superior to the other in any match, these objectives are often lost. Therefore,
the Dynamo Soccer Board has adopted a guideline to encourage coaches to restore
the objectives in games that are mismatches. Once a team obtains a lead of four
goals, the coach of that team is expected to take affirmative steps to restore
some competitive balance. Players who do not usually get an opportunity to score
should be given a chance to play attacking positions. Stronger players should be
moved to defense, goalie, or the sideline. Coaches may also introduce other
strategies, such as a team rule that no shot may be taken until after there have
been at least three passes, or that each player must play the ball on the first
or second touch. Coaches are expected to observe
these rules in good faith. The referees are under no obligation to enforce them,
though some referees may remind a coach of the obligation. (Note: This guideline
is not in effect for tournament play at the end of the season)
45.
A player receiving a yellow card must be
substituted for immediately. That player may return on the next
substitution. Any player receiving a second yellow card in the same game is
considered to be receiving a red card. This player is ejected from the game
but may be substituted for. A player receiving a red card for a serious foul
is ejected from the game and may not be substituted for. Any coach or player
that receives a red card must appear before the executive board before they
can coach or play again
