Board of Directors Special Meeting Minutes
August 29, 2005 Dynamo Field

Attendance: Dave Diveley, Ed Smith, Vernette Karnes, John Hall, Bob Laskey, Jeff Gindy, Mary Kyrouac, Mark Goldfain, Deb Laskey, Brent Mallek, Donna Harris, and Mike Patterson

Visitors: None

Ed called the meeting to order at 7:15

Ed relinquished the floor and assigned Brent to chair the meeting.

A special meeting was called in regards to an incident between a referee and a coach who is also a board member and how it was handled afterwards.

As a result of the conflict between the referee and board member and the resolution of the issue, the board member resigned verbally, (not formally in writing as required in the Dynamo constitution).

The meeting was called for the following reasons.

1:       Can the conflict be resolved?

2:       What occurred?

3:       What should we have done?

It was decided in the future that we would have a resolution committee that will include the full board of active board members if a Board member is involved in the conflict in question.

If a board member is not involved then the responsible committee chair(s) will handle the issue and if they cannot resolve then it will go to the resolution committee.

Also in the future if there is a conflict that needs to go to the resolution committee, all parties involved in the conflict will be invited to the meeting.  After the involved parties have stated their side of the issue, they will leave (even if it is a board member), and the remaining committee will discuss the issue and come to a decision.

The board member in question took back the resignation.

Dave motioned to adjourn at 8:16.  Scott seconded.
