Bird Park Splash Pad
The Splash Pad at Bird Park in Kankakee has water cannons, fountains, buckets
and sprinklers, all designed for children. It is run by the Kankakee Valley Park
District. Note: The Splash Pad is open to all ages. Children
eight and younger must be accompanied by a responsible adult. It is open seven
days a week, starting in June and ending in late August. The park is not
designed for swimming. Admission: $1 per person. Sessions are 1
p.m. to 7 p.m. daily.

Curling Club of Kankakee
Although often compared to
bowling, curling is more similar to shuffleboard or chess, with players needing
to use precision placement and strategy on ice. It is a game that requires
balance, flexibility, and control. Players may walk as much as 2 miles during a
regular match! That being said, curling is a sport for all ages, from 8 to 80
and beyond, and is played by both men and women. Interested parties may

Diamond Sports Complex
The "New" Diamond Sports Complex is owed by the
Bourbonnais Park District and is located at 6279 N. 1000 West Road in
Bourbonnais Illinois. The Park District purchased it from the former owners and
have committed over a half million dollars in renovation for the facility. The 3
year architectural plans will be in a display case at the new complex as you
enter it. The playing surfaces of all 6 fields have been completely renovated
and look brand new. The six field complex will be the weekend home of travel
tourneys put on by the DSP staff from April 16th through the first of August. An
8 week Fall program will begin the 3rd week in August. Instructional camps are
being planned by our staff for the facility.

Association located in Bourbonnais Illinois serves 965 children ages five to
fourteen in Kankakee, Iroquois and Will Counties to provide an organization
where children learn and play recreational soccer, the world's most popular

Fishing the Kankakee River
The Kankakee is predominantly a clear, shallow stream
with gravel-rubble riffles, sand-bottom pools and swampy marsh areas along the
upper portion. Larger pools are formed by dams at Momence, Kankakee and
Wilmington and by the Dresden Lock and Dam on the headwaters of the Illinois. An
aquatic resource of about 3,338 acres exists on the Kankakee.

traditional ball golf, however players use flying discs.

Gathering on the Theatiki
The Theatiki Fife & Drum Corps is dedicated to the preservation of the music of
the 18th century. Formed in June 2001 to commemorate the early French influence
along the Theatiki (Kankakee) River, we celebrate our French and American
history through the performance of ancient folk and martial music.
Our purpose for hosting the Gathering on the Theatiki is to produce a quality
living history event focused on the lifeways of the people around the time of
the French and Indian War 1754-1763. It enables us to show visitors the daily
lives of the voyageur, French and British Military Units, Woodland Indians,
Scots, Merchants, craftspeople and the women and children who traveled with
them.

Hopkins Park/Pembroke School Community Theatre
January 3, 2008 saw the formation of the Hopkins Park/Pembroke School Community
Theatre.
The theatre company so far has put on a production of Lorraine Hansberry's "A
Raisin In The Sun" to rave reviews, picked up by the local news media. Other
plays proposed for the 2009-2010 season include: "The Wiz", "God's Trombone",
and "For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When The Rainbow Is Enuf".

Currently, Innovative Volleyball Club is representing players from BBCHS,

park also has a small Visitors’ Center which contains numerous displays and

The Kankakee Valley Performance Choir is a non-profit organization committed
to helping talented young people achieve musical excellence. Our young choir

their musical talents with growing audiences throughout the Kankakee area and
beyond, they are touching hearts and lifting spirits, while also building

Kankakee Valley Piano Camp
Students ages 4 - 18 are invited to attend the Ninth Annual
Kankakee Valley Piano Camp. The camp will be held at the Larsen Fine Arts
Center at Olivet Nazarene University in Bourbonnais, Illinois, beginning with
registration Monday morning, July 14th, and ending on Friday afternoon, July
18th. Students will have the opportunity to participate in piano, voice, and
ensembles as well as classes with master teachers. There will be performances,
activities, and final student recitals.

The Kankakee Valley Symphony Orchestra season is October through May and
provides entertainment for the 4th of July celebration preceding the fireworks

The Annual Kilbride Family Classic every Fathers Day has grown from a field of
100 participants in our first race in 1996 to 545 in 2007. Financial support
(donations) continues to increase as well. Due to the generosity of family,
friends, and community members, we raised $6000 in 2005, $8000 in 2006 and over
$10,000 in 2007. You may choose to donate to Autism Speaks or to The Kankakee
Valley Chapter of the Autism Society of America.

with exciting, family-oriented rodeos and Western-themed entertainment.

relaxing day hiking the trails in one of our most popular recreational areas. A
rich tapestry of woods and prairie along the Kankakee River. The paved trails
are perfect for biking, walking, rollerblading, investigating the Indian Caves
and cross-country skiing. Enjoy the many farm animals including oxen, ponies,
rabbits, and goats.
River Valley Rage Softball
Girls Fast pitch softball age 8-18 that travels the Midwest region playing
40-80 per season. Home field is at the Kankakee River Road Park across from
Splash Valley. Most players come from Kankakee, Will and Iroquois
Counties.

Provides specifically designed recreation experience
for individuals with disabilities or special needs. The RVSRA is an association
formed through a cooperative agreement between the Kankakee Valley Park
District, Bourbonnais Township Park District, and Limestone Park District to
provide community cased Therapeutic Recreation to these individuals.

Soccer - Bradley-Bourbonnais
The Windy City Pride is a select
youth soccer club with the intent and purpose of developing the youth into a
total soccer player. We do this through professional training and competition at
the highest level (state, regional, and national levels).
Young People's Theater
